With the most recent winter storm moved out of the midwest area, an arctic airmass caused temperatures around the Kansas City Missouri area to plummet. Near record low temps made travelers in the Kansas City International airport pack a little more than normal to escape the arctic air mass. The brutally cold temperatures caused holiday travel delays throughout the mid-Monday morning commute as the airplanes had to be de-iced to remove frost and snow stuck to the aircraft over the weekend. The de-icing fluid is similar to anti-freeze and removes any sort of frozen precipitation from the aircraft extremities, such as the wings and tail section, to allow for safe flight. Footage was shot on location at KMCI Kansas City International airport and the temperature this morning was 4 degrees Fahrenheit.
